Karine Razafindrazaka
Country Director Madagascar
After eight years working in France as a social worker in detention centers – supporting individuals with addictive behaviors and young people facing family breakdowns – Karine transitioned to the international development sector. Since then, she has built over ten years of experience leading and contributing to education and community-based projects in Madagascar, particularly in remote and underserved areas. She began by coordinating education initiatives and progressively took on broader leadership roles, managing multi-sectoral programs, developing strategic partnerships, and overseeing teams.
In 2021, Karine founded United World Schools Madagascar and led the establishment and expansion of the organisation’s activities in the country.
As Country Director of UWS Madagascar, she is responsible for strategic planning, programme development, team leadership (managing over 40 employees), budget oversight, partnership building, and advocacy with government and international stakeholders. She focuses on ensuring the quality, sustainability, and growth of the programmes, aligning them with national education priorities and driving systemic change in the communities served. To date, 22 schools have been built and opened, significantly increasing access to quality education for tens of thousands of children.
I am part of UWS because:
The development of a country can only be done by improving the access and quality of education for a greater number of people. Educated children will have more opportunities and abilities to achieve their dreams.
