A new blueprint for education

National education systems set the standard for policy, curriculum, and infrastructure. We know that in order to make an impact, change has to be reinforced at this system-level. Because without a strengthened national blueprint, it’s difficult to ensure that every student, regardless of their socio-economic background, has access to quality education.

By sharing our work, innovations and best practices with government bodies, national systems are strengthened, so they can better respond to the challenges facing education today.

Focused on community outcomes

Each of our programs starts out with the end in mind – building strength and independence to facilitate the gradual transition of schools to local ownership. Each of our schools follows a phased pathway to transition over 5 to 7 years. To date, 59 UWS Schools have transitioned into local ownership and sit in their respective national education systems. This locally-led approach to development safeguards each school’s future and promotes sustainability in the sector at large. A core part of our mission is to evolve how support is provided to offer a more sustainable alternative to dependency on international aid.
